The Week of Thanksgiving

We were so thrilled to have Cindy, Zach and Lucas visit us this past week. As luck would have it, Lucas got sick half-way through their travel here, but he was quite the trooper.

Cindy and I have been accused of forgetting to take pictures during Kodak moments. We lived up to our reputation this visit. We did get some pictures of the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Then we scrambled to take some pictures the day that they left. This is what we came up with.

We also visited with some college friends, toured Washington DC, and had Thanksgiving dinner in between. At least we have our memories.

Super Why?

Aaron wanted to be Super Why for Halloween this year. No one knew who he was, and when they asked, he simply said, "I have the power to read!"

The Bahamas

Back in the summer, we decided to book a trip to Atlantis in the Bahamas, to celebrate our 10th anniversary. But we decided to wait until Aaron was three, so that he could participate in some of the activities that Atlantis has to offer. We had a great time, and are now completely exhausted.

The day we arrived it looked like a monsoon, so we spent our time inside, exploring their many aquariums.

The next couple of days were cloudy and windy, but no rain. It was a little cold for the water, but we sucked it up and enjoyed the beaches of the lagoons and the water parks, with little to no crowds.

Although this beach is gorgeous, the wind and the waves kept us off the beach most days.

The last couple of days were sunny and warm. Hurray! Aaron wore himself out on these water-slides, continuously climbing up then sliding down. He only took a break to ride the rapids-style lazy river with us, and to see the shark feeding. By the time we left the island, he was asking us to carry him around because "his walkers hurt".

We ended the week all smiles (and a child completely passed out on the plane).

Party at Chuck E. Cheese

Aaron's Granna has been telling Aaron that we would have his third birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, so, of course, we did. He loved every moment.

We opened most of his gifts at home. He has been asking to be Super Why for Halloween, so I figured that this might be the only year where I could get away with giving him his costume for a birthday present. He loved it!

"I am Two Years Old" (but only for a few days longer)

Aaron celebrated his third birthday last week at school. It was a little early, but he is certainly looking like a three year old these days.

Smile for the Camera

Nope.

Nuh-Uh.
OK, maybe just look at the camera.
Getting closer.
Close enough.

The Big Apple

Vacationing with an almost three year old is an eye opening experience. This weekend, we headed to New York City. Suites are expensive there, so we shared a hotel room. Aaron had a very hard time falling asleep. The combination of sleep deprivation and sensory overload resulted in a few meltdowns. However, we still managed to get in a few good activities. Our top picks: riding the Staten Island Ferry, strolling through Central Park & the Central Park Zoo, and touring the American Museum of Natural History.

Rehoboth Beach

We took a trip to the beach this weekend. Last year, Aaron loved the water. This year, once he felt the undertow pulling him, he was done with it. The best we could do was get him to play in the sand- far from the water. Luckily, Rehoboth has a pretty cool boardwalk with lots of activities.

Best Saturday Ever

Aaron has had a Little Gym class every Saturday morning for the past year, which often put a damper on our Saturday plans. This summer, our Saturdays are free & we took full advantage of it. We spent this morning at the National Zoo (sorry, no pictures). Then we went to see the new Cars movie after nap. It was Aaron's first time to see a movie in the theater. Finally, we ended the day at Johnny Rockets. I think he loved every minute.

The Art of Lying

"Aaron, did you just pee in the (air conditioning) vent?"

"No, I didn't", as he straddles the vent, standing in a puddle.

A Word of Advice

Don't tell your 2 1/2 old that he will turn into a pumpkin if he doesn't go to bed soon. He will worry for days. Which means lots of questions about turning into pumpkins.

They're Gonna Cruise

Aaron has a new Cars book, and his favorite saying right now is "They're gonna cruise". A few weeks ago, he went through a phase where he said everything in a Texas accent. I never got a good video of it, so I thought I would share this instead.

Mother's Day 2011

My boys took me out for brunch, then a stroll through the Eastern Market on Capitol Hill this morning. Thank you for a lovely day, and for being wonderful every day.

"How YOU doin'?"

Happy Easter!

We celebrated Easter with the Leaps and the Prices this year. The kids had a great time hunting for eggs.
